Visiting Daddy and MeMe at Work.

We took Chas, to the pumpkin patch for our first Family Halloween together. Chad did a great job of carving the pumpkin, while the baby and myself took a nap.

When we're on our way home from one of our many Dr. or therapy appointments, we visit with Daddy and Me Me, at work. Chas. loves to see his Daddy. When Chad walks into the room, Chas is breaking his neck to find his father. He loves his Me Me almost as much. When Chas sees Kathi, his little eyes brighten right up.
We haven't been to the Cardiologist in three months. So there's nothing really to report there. Chas weights 19 lbs 3 Oz, and 27 1/2 inches long as of today. This boy is growing like a weed. His feet are so big that he's wearing a size 18Mon sock, and 12 m0n clothes. Kathi and I think that he's going to be taller than his father. He's such a sweet baby. God has truly blessed us.

Pictures from JC Penny's.

These are only some of the pictures that were takes. They did a wonderful job of catching Chas' personality. The people that meet Chas, often comment on how happy he is. Lots of sweet little smiles and babbling. I thank God for this wonderful opportunity. He's made me a wife and a mother, something I never thought I would ever do. But I wouldn't change things at all. This is home, and it feels good!
We wanted to do family pictures, but Chad has started a new job. He is working at Slider's with Kathi. Well, he's working in the kitchen actually. He seems to like his new job, he no longer comes home saying that he needs to find a new job. I can promise that we are going to get some family pictures for the holidays. Hope that everyone is well, and all our prayers go out to our Grand Me Me. We pray that you are doing well, and want you to know that you are always in our thoughts. All our hearts and love go out to you. Can't wait to see you in November. I promise, it will be the experience of a life time!!!!!!!!!

Chas and Mom after bathtime.

Bath time use to be one of the biggest tasks with this young man. You not only prepared yourself physically, but mentally. The sweet little man would scream at the top of his lungs. You almost felt bad washing him. You just never know what hurts. It's not like they can tell you. But after many more attempts, and a regular routine of bath times. He has come along way. I almost think that he looks forward to them. As soon as you get the diaper off of his little biscuits, he's balled in a ball trying to eat his toes. It's like carrying a rollie pollie to the tub.
Chas, as of three weeks ago, is 27 inches long and 17lbs 8oz. As you can tell, he's going to be a big boy like his father.

Lucas came to visit!

Lucas Hail, Came to visit with us a couple of weeks ago. He calls every so often and will come by and eat dinner with the family. It's always nice to have friends over that you haven't seen in a while.
Hey Luke? Look Not tears! We love you big guy.

Learning How to Eat!

So, Chas, is learning how to eat baby food. We are on week four of this new adventure, and hings seem to be going well. As you can see, we make a little mess, but more gets in our mouth than it looks. Chas, is up to about two and a half jars. I can tell you that he's nothing like his father in this area. His favorite veggies are: Green Beans, Sweet Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, and Squash. This little man will eat any fruit you put in his mouth. He's teething at this time, so you can only imagine how much drooling is going on in this Carne's household.
We are truly lucky to be blessed with such a sweet little angel!

Spendig time with my grandpas.

I love spending time with my grandpas. They spoil my to the core. I can count on them no matter what. They hold me and make funny noises to make me laugh. I can even count on them soo me, by rocking me in my favorite chair. Those Grandpas sure are the best!!!! to the right: Rabbit Carnes and Chas Carnes to the left: Wes Frost and Chas Carnes

Hanging with my Daddy!

I truly apologize for being so bad at keeping this updated. This is Chas, and his wonderful father, Chad. Chad, takes off every Friday to spend time with his son. They have a good time together, going to meet friends for lunch, and taking long walks in the evening.
I truly could not be happier than I am right now. We have a wonderful son, an Chas, has a wonderful father. When Chad, walks into the house, you should see that baby break his neck trying to see his father. I am truly blessed. Thank you to everyone that keeps up with our wonderful family!!!

Our First Trip tothe Zoo!

Today, we decided to take Chas to the zoo. He got great news from the cardiologist on monday. Dr. Lacey, said that the blood flow through the area that they we're worried about has increase. That means that we do not have to have angiopasty at this time. He looked so good and his oxygen stats were in the 80's, so she said she didn't need to see us for at least three months. Not that we don't love them for the great thigs that they have done for our son, but it was music to our ears. This means that we can start acting like a family and doing family things. We still have to be careful about germs. They requested that everyone in the family must get a flu shot, or at least everyone that's around him regularly.
Due to our good news we decieded that we'd take our son to the zoo. I'm going to say that this isen't a good age for the zoo, or a good time of year to go. It was humid and he feel asleep about five minutes after we walked through the gate. When he did wake up he enjoyed looking around and watching the otters swim around.

Chas, is doing well. I love to dress him up with his little hats, and outfits that everyone has bought for him. We go to the cardiologist on Monday, and hope to find out when our angioplasty is going to be.
This past week he was running a fever, so we went to pediatrician. The checked him over and found nothing to be wrong. I told her that, Chas, is teething and maybe that's the cause. I was told that fevers are not relatated to teething. Which from multiple moms and co-workers I have heard otherwise. To make a long story short, I come home from work last night to a baby with little red dots all over his body. We called the pediatrician on call and she remembered us being in a couple of days earlier for a fever. She asked if he was still running a fever? I told her not for the last day and a half. She said for me to spread his skin, if the spots disapear and then reapear when I let go it's Roseola. Sure enough, they disappeared when I spread the skin.
At this point I was thanking God that we didn't have to go to the ER. Needless to say, he should have these horable spots for about a week. God bless our little man.

I love it when my Meme comes to visit with me. I just don't understand why mommy to put these ridiculous hats on me though.

Look Who Came to Visit!!!!!

This is a little late being posted, bu if you've ever cared for a new born then you should understand the delay. Back in early August Colton and Dakota came to visit. I'm pretty sure they had a good time. They stopped by to meet the man of the hour and take some pictures.

Getting ready to leave, we hope.

Today is Sunday. We are suppose to be going home tomorrow. They're taking us for a chest xray, echo cardiogram, and lab work first thing in the morning tomorrow, and if all is well, we're on our way. Dr Ategie, I think that's how you spell it, told us that there is already a stenosis, a narrowing in a vessel, at the site of suture. This means that in at least 8 weeks, we hope we can hold out that long, before we have to come back and have angioplasty. If they do it any sooner that that, they might tear the suture site. So God be with our little man in his time of need. We are praying that things go well, and with God on our side, we will prevail.

After my post yesterday, and the mom stressing the fact that the ET tube should come out. They took it all. The chest tubes, the ET tube, the NG tube, their almost all gone. They have dropped us down to 1/2 a liter of O2, the they've started us on the methadone Q every 6 hours, to get us off of the fentanal (not really sure that's how you spell it). That's funny how they have to give you more drugs to get you off of other drugs. Regardless, his eyes have been rolling in the back of his head. Good thing, he's only been up since 200am. Time to sleep sweet prince.

aaaaaaauuuuugggghhhhh!!!!!!!!

Today is July 19, 2010. It is our son's 3 month Birthday, and I'm having to look at him with his ET Tube still in place. For those of you that don't know what an ET Tube is, this is the tube that they put down your throat to help you breath. We were really hoping that today we would be loosing that darn thing, but they are reasuring me that it just takes time. Though he's been breathing over that machine for at least the last three to four days. They all start to run together when you start to spend this much time in a hospital.
We did loose all three of our chest tubes today. I guess I should be thankful that we are at least moving in a positive direction. I just really miss holding our son, as well as Chad does too. He is such a great father to our son. Chas, lights up everytime he hears his fathers voice. Chad, had daddy duty this past weekend, and he did it without a fight. This is when you get to sit at the hospital and just wait, because there is nothing else that you can do. I am truely blessed to have found him.

Chad and I found each other in March 2009. We hit it off right off the bat. Yes, I have to confess that I asked him out. I was not feeling well about this guy that was hitting on me, so I asked Chad to act like he was my boyfriend. As you can tell he had no problem with that. We were together about six months when we found out that we were pregnant. I didn't think this was possible so this was a great feeling for the both of us. We then decided that marriage would be our next step. Yes, again I asked Chad to marry me. We were married November 14, 2009 at daddy and Heather's house. With a reception to follow at my Grandmother's. For a wedding to be put together in a matter of 2 weeks, I must say that Heather and her friends did a beautiful job. The reception was a big hit as well. Kathi, Cheryl, Barbara, Amanda, Carrie, and many other friends helped with that.
After many long months of being big and pregnant, 37 weeks to be exact, we found out that our son was going to born with a heart defect. This defect is called Shone's Complex or Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This condition is a combination of multiple defects on the left side of his heart. It is a 100% fatal condition unless operated on immediately after birth. As you can imagine this made our hearts stop. The thought of our newborn going through something so horrific and possibly not making it through the first of three surgeries
Chas Kerlin Carnes, was born April 19, 2010 at 830pm. Weighing in at 8 pounds 9 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. He was the most beautiful baby that I had ever seen. Eleven days after birth he under went his first surgery, April 30, 2010. Which he did very well with. After five weeks in the hospital we finally got to bring our baby home. He was home and doing well for about a week when we had a big scare. We had gotten him up for a bottle feeding and went to change his diaper when we noticed rthat it was full of blood. I turned to Chad and said, "Lets go to the ER now!" We went to the ER and they were surprised at the amount of blood that the baby was loosing. There concerns for a possible GI bleed. After a weekend of evaluation and extensive testring, it wound up being a milk prtien allergy. So we get our baby home yewt again. It's so nice to have him home and in his own environment. Yes, we have cardiac apointments every other week, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and multiple pediatric DR appointments, but we are home.
Two weeks later we go for a heart cath. Things are looking good but our Sano Shunt is getting a little kink in it where we are starting to grow up and become a big boy. So they decided that we needed to have our next open heart surgery. We weren'y expectring to hear that for at least two to three more months. Yeah, that was a really big supprise for us all. So July 13, 2010, we had the Glenn Procedure done. Chas, is doing well. He's having some issues with his stats like: his O2 is still staying in the 70's, his Heart Rate keeps going into the 200's, and his blood pressure systolic is staying in the low 100's. But with lots of prayers, love, and care, he's going to pull through this one as well.
